Boredom Busters
A five-day art, music, & movement sampler series of workshops for children ages 6-11 years old who experienced trauma or loss. The series is co-facilitated by a creative arts therapist and artists on July 20-24 from 10:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Registration fee is $25.00 and $60.00 for the 5-day workshop fee (covers lunch, snacks, and beverages). If one-way transport is needed, there’s a $100.00 fee to cover the five days. Scholarships for fees are available based on financial need with documentation. The series is funded in part by the County of Morris, Board of Chosen Freeholders.

Drawn Closer
An eight-week series for children ages 6-8 with social skill deficits and their parent(s) or guardian(s). The visual arts projects are designed to enhance parent-child and peer relations and to engage in fun along with communal and dyad projects, focused drawing, painting, and handmade paper activities to create family projects and receive parental support. The series will take place on Wednesdays from 6:30-8:00 p.m. beginning in fall 2009. Registration fee is $25.00 and $20 per week includes all materials. Program is co-facilitated by a Master’s level, board certified art therapist/licensed professional counselor and a teaching artist. This series if funded in part by the Jockey Hollow Foundation.
Hang in There
A 12-week series for 9-12 year olds beginning the end of September 2009 from 4:30-6:00 p.m. (day to be announced). They will create a sketch of an interesting person and design clothing for a composite person that represents the group. The first project involves creating an interesting character by sketching in silver and gold markers on window screens to be suspended by dowels in the train station. The second project is to create outfits that will display in a makeshift closet for a person that represents the group. The communal project will be to create a group composite character based on characteristics of each the participants into one character, then write a narrative about the character which will be displayed next to the closet. Program is co-facilitated by a Master’s level, board certified art therapist and teaching artist. The series is funded by the County of Morris Board of Chosen Freeholders. Registration fee is $25 and $10 per week if self transported or $20 per week if one-way transport to the program is provided. Scholarships are available based on financial need.
Stuck Here
An 8-week holiday series of tape art projects for children in detention and shelter care. The children will design, sketch and create a tape art mural on plexiglas for display in the Morristown Train Station. This series is funded in part by the Arts Council of the Morris Area through the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a Partner Agency of the National Endowment of the Arts.
Skies Unlimited
A 10-week series for five to six children ages 6-8 with developmental delays, cognitive impairments, or neurological impairments. This series utilizes art, music, and movement activities co-facilitated by a Master’s level board certified music and dance therapist. Registration fee is $25 registration and $10-$20 per workshop to cover all materials. Program will be held weekly from September-November, 2009 from 4:30-6:00 p.m. (day of week to be determined). Funding provided in part by the Morris County Children’s Home Foundation. Scholarships available based on financial need.
Changing My Story
A 10-week series for teens who experienced trauma, loss, illness, or disabilities. The teens will integrate camera work and creative writing to create pages for a book to be published. The series will be held September-November 2009 from 4:30-6:00 p.m. (day of week to be determined). Registration fee is $25 and $15 per workshop. One way transport is available. Limited scholarships available based on financial need.
University Behavioral Health Center of Newark
A ten-week healing arts weekly workshop series will be provided from October - December to at risk Newark children enrolled in the Challenge program.
Children’s Specialized Hospital
For Academic year 2009-2010, weekly therapeutic art, music, and movement workshops will be provided to children with moderate to profound disabilities with the generous support of Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation.
